Scientific studies uncovered a vast range of manuka oil's health benefits. But the Māori already benefited from its healing properties in treating diverse health conditions long before New Zealand’s settlers from Europe came.
But the triketone enriched-East Cape Mānuka Oil was found to have more powerful antiviral and antibacterial properties than oils from other regions in New Zealand. Most mānuka essential oil from different parts of the country has less than five percent triketones. According to studies, it is more competent in killing superbug (MRSA), herpes types 1 and 2 (HSV1 and HSV2), and gram-positive bacteria better than the tea tree oil of Australia.

It also reduces inflammation or can be used as an antifungal, antiseptic, and antiviral. As a natural supplement, it supports the treatment of fungal infections, insect bites, cold sores, eczema, athlete's foot, mild sunburn, chafing and rashes, oily skin and pimples, itchy scalp, foot, and body odour, rheumatism, psoriasis, jock itch, gum disease, constipation, stiff back and joints, vomiting, and fever.
